JOE DESANDRE
1971 - 2007
Joe Desandre,
35 year old Novice has passed away on December 6th
in Florida while on a business trip. Joe was jogging
with some associates and suffered a massive heart
attack. Joe worked for People's United Bank and was
the Director of O.E. Technologies.
This is truely
a sad time for our BMX family.
Our sincere condolences
go out to the entire family and our
thoughts and prayers for his son, 5 yr old Evan.
Joe was a life
long resident of Meriden and graduated from Maloney
High School. He attended Mitchell and Lees McRae Colleges
and graduated Georgia Southern University. All colleges
were attended on soccer scholarships. He broke many
soccer records in both high school and college and
went on to play professional soccer.
Joe started racing
BMX in July and took to the sport like a duck to water.
At Camp Woodward competing In his first and unfortunately,
only National events, he won every moto and both Main
events.
At Foothills BMX
this summer Joe and Mike Gage met and immediately
became good friends, both on and off the track. Recently
they have been training with each other and competed
in New Jersey at the Iron Man race where, no surprise,
Joe easily won his class.
Joe had his goal
set as the National Championship for the 2008 season
and his next National Caliber competition was to be
in Ohio at the Christmas Classic. Joe was a fierce
competitor but never disrespected any of his peers.
He was full of the competitive spirit and that same
spirit will now be carried on by his young son Evan.
There is a Trust Fund set up
for Evan's future.
If you can find it in your heart to donate:
