May 4th, 2008 - Todays racing was a
great success. Unfortunately my PC crashed and I am using
alternate means to edit this web site. I hope to have
pictures posted by tomorrow night
April 28th, 2008 - There
will be a final Work-Night on Thursday Evening from 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the track to fine tune the facility
for Opening Day. All help is welcomed.
APRIL 22nd, 2008 - The
second OPEN HOUSE night wll be Thursday
and the last one on Friday. Friday will feature free gate
practice from 6:00 to 7:45
April 21st, 2008 - Let
the games begin. We just set a record as 16,390 Open House
Flyers and posters went out to 53 different schools in
the area. Congratulations to Committee Chairperson Pat
Borla and her fine staff of committee members. You have
really set the bar high this year. We are very proud of
you folks.
April 20th, 2008 - Track
was rolled today with a very heavy duty vibrating roller
and is now race ready. The sound system was tested and
the new gate sytem as well. Three consecutive Open House
nights this week starting with Wednesday night. All three
will run from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Find out how easy it
is to race your bike this year.
April 17th, 2008 - Next
work day is this Sunday. We have a large Roller coming
and need rakers and people for the final fine tuning of
the track. We will be there from 7:00 a.m. until late
morning probably. Please help if you can.
April 6th, 2008 - Nearly
30 people were working at the track today, coupled with
two machines equates to a ride-able track. As the days
get warmer and hopefully a little more sunshine, it will
continue to harden up. A big thanks to the oversized crew
helping out today.
April 4th, 2007 - The work
day scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) is now scheduled
for Sunday due to wet conditions. If the rain stops on
Saturday there may be people there raking the infield
or working in the building.
March 24th, 2008 - CHANGE IN PLANS
for the work day. Because of the Northeast Regional at
Egg Harbor Township New Jersey on the 12th and 13th, The
date for the Work Day has been changed to Saturday April
5th starting at 7:00. Please come out and help. We will
be there most of the day.
March 24th, 2008 - There
is a Track Work Day planned for Saturday April 12th. The
intent is to get the track into race ready condition with
a small bucket loader and a small roller being there.
The more people who are there the quicker it will get
done. Before that, if anyone would like to get there and
rake the millions of leaves out of the infield, please
feel free to do so.
March 13th, 2008 - We are
proud to announce that the Bikers Edge has signed on to
sponsor the popular Ultimate Warrior Pro-Am Challenge
Series. Details are included here.
March 8th, 2008 - The
Kitchen has agreed to be the Foothills Food
Vendor for the 2008 season. You can visit "The
Kitchen" daily in the center of Burlington
for Breakfast, Lunch and even Dinner plus all of your
deli needs. Look for some fresh food with some fresh ideas
at the track this summer.
March 7th, 2008 - Cool
link to a video that NBC sports put together

are in the process of looking for a food vendor to be

or have suggestions, please have them contact Roger at
(860) 485-9636
February 15th, 2008 - Not
really related to Foothills BMX but then again it is.
This is a video done by Access Hollywood about Tara Llanes.
Tara is a BMXer and more recently, a Mountain Bike Racer.
The day before the Grands, she was racing Jill Kitner
in Colorado and suffered a horrendous crash and is paralyzed.
(Jill Has been to Foothills a number of times). Tara will
never give up. If you watch this video and are not moved,
you are not human. Tara (whom I've met many times in her
BMX days) is now 31 years old. The Video aired on December
26. Her drive and determination should make all of our
own petty troubles seem small. I hope your inspired from
it.
February 11th, 2008 - This
past weekend the NBL held its annual Competition Congress
in Dublin Ohio. Foothlls recieved its 6th
consecutive award for having the highest average rider
count per race, in the NBL. Thanks to all the racers,
and their families, for coming out and supporting the
program that we have in Torrington.
February 6th, 2008 - Yesterday,
The Litchfield County BMX Group Inc. and Tommy's Bicycle
and Fitness, signed a contract that solidifies the popular
Torrington based buisness as our "Title Sponsor"
for the 2008 season. Tommy's is under new ownership and
new management this year and we are excited about this
"partnership" and look forward even more of
a "Tommy's presence" at the track all season
long. Many thanks to this civic minded business for their
continued support.

2008 Rider Sponsorship Forms are now available. See the
PDF link in the lower LH corner of the page.

that covers the cost of our new gate control electronics
box with the new "random start candence" and

has just been posted. More "Special Events"
may be added so check back periodically for updates.
January 12th, 2007 - Today, Erwin
Atchison of RC Hobbies and More, has agreed to return
in 2007 as our Race-Day vendor and will be at the track
every Sunday. This is also great news as not only is
the track being well supported by Bike shops and parts
distributors, but the consumers also have the best of
both worlds. Thank you RC Hobbies and More, based in
near-by Winsted.
January 9th, 2007 - Today, a contractual
agreement was signed by myself, as president of the
Litchfield County BMX Group, Inc. and Jim Burton, owner
of the Torrington based Tommy's Bicycle & Fitness.
Tommy's will be our title series sponsor for the 2007
season which will now be known as "The Tommy's
Bicycle & Fitness Weekly Racing Series at Foothills
BMX."
Again, this is very exciting news and will allow us
to continue with our choice to allow all qualified riders
to attend our awards outing free of any admission charges.
In addition, there are many side issues associated with
this partnership which will become visible as we move
forward. It's a case where everyone wins!
Our sincere thanks goes out to Jim Burton for stepping
up.
A huge Thank-You goes out to Prudential Financial for
their past involvement and setting the standard for
a series sponsorship. As is the case with all of our
advertisers, both past and present, your stones in our
"FOUNDATION OF TEAMWORK" is and has been,
a major contributor in the successful building of our
programs.
