ALLEN
CURRIER WINS THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR PRO-AM CHALLENGE SERIES
TITLE
Allen Currier (Rolling Thunder)
captured the Ultimate Warrior Pro-Am Series Title Sunday
with yet another Main event win. With the series set
up to count the best 4 races of the qualified riders,
A. C. went into the Championship race with a 4 point
lead over Max Egdorf and Billy Ripley, the fastest amateurs
in the running for the title.
With $675 in posted awards for the Main event only,
this was gonna be one hot dash-for-cash. With 10 riders
qualified to race this race only 9 would cough up the
entry fee and vie for the top five positions. Just to
add to the excitement, $75 was added as a hole shot
award with the line being across the table top outside
of the first turn.
After an impressive roll-out the introductions were
complete and the gate was raised. Drawing gate 8 was
Pete Lorenzo, in gate 6 Chris Keller, in Gate 5 Pete
Balotti, in Gate 4 Steve Oldham, in gate 3 Billy Ripley,
in gate 2 Max Egdorf and on the pole, it was Thunder.
“Riders Ready, Watch the gate” and blam,
they all exploded out of the gate. With currier having
the inside line, all he had to do was stay with the
pack into the big sharp turn and he had the advantage.
That is exactly what he did.

As they entered the turn Currier still had the inside
with Oldham right there, Lorenzo was on the far outside
leaving the middle of the track exposed. Into the corner
Keller, sitting in that middle area, literally threw
himself right into the mix and didn’t hit anyone.
I will never know how there wasn’t a massive pileup.
Up the second straight no one could gain any ground
on Currier. Coming out of the second turn something
happened to Lorenzo and he was out of the running. As
they sped the rest of the way everyone was hauling the
mail. As they set up for the last turn, the Ripper baled
hard and he was out of the cash as well. The win was
worth $250 and it was Curriers along with the $75 hole
shot award. Oldham pocketed $175 for his second place
finish. Third and $100 went to Chris Keller, $50 4th
place money was Pate Balotti’s and 5th place,
worth $25 went to Max Egdorf.

When the calculations were complete, Currier was crowned
the 2007 Ultimate Warrior and earned the $500 grand
prize. Second and $300 went to Steve Oldham and $200
third place money went to Egdorf.
